Hypersonic Wind Tunnel Technician
Leidos currently has an exciting opportunity for a Hypersonic Wind Tunnel Technician in our Tullahoma, TN office.
The successful candidate will be supporting engineering research in High Speed Experimental Sciences, Propulsion Systems, and Aero-Structures. The position will consist of assembly and instrumentation of test articles; operation of wind tunnel facility systems, including test articles, instrumentation, and diagnostic equipment; and modifications to facility systems, and documentation of this modifications.
Candidate will also need to communicate with Leidos, contractor, and Air Force research engineers, and interact daily with Air Force customer program leadership, team members, and end users. Must develop a clear understanding of customer goals and objectives and shape work activities to satisfy them.
Candidate should have the following skill set:
Minimum of a High School diploma and 5 plus years’ experience in a related work.
Must present both verbal and written status on a regular basis.
Has complete understanding of all aspects of the job and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encounter.
Expert knowledge in specialized functions: wind tunnel model installation and instrumentation (pressure gages, thermocouples, load balances, strain gages, accelerometers), and supersonic / hypersonic wind tunnel operations and safety.)
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess an active Secret clearance.
Following is desired but not required: Optical diagnostics, temperature and pressure sensitive paint, and low cost model construction. Experience in propulsion and inlet flows.
