Post-Doctoral Research Psychologist
Leidos’s Naval Health Operation(NHE) is currently looking for a Post-Doctoral Research Psychologist to support studies to develop behavioral research programs to include, but not limited to: human systems, fleet integration, as well as individual and team performance and qualifications, in support of the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory (NSMRL) in Groton, CT. NSMRL conducts research and investigates the effects of medical, psychological, and performance issues associated with the health and performance of naval personnel in operational and non-operational settings.
The ideal candidate shall:
- Identify Navy-relevant research topics in the areas of sensory physiology, optimization of human performance, selection and classification, or social/behavioral dynamics. Support writing research pre-proposals, research protocols, formal technical reports, and journal publications addressing the above topics.
- Support execution of approved work units/research projects by determining requirements, obtain/develop and fabricate laboratory equipment and materials, and coordinate development and approval of related Institutional Review Board (IRB) documents.
- Develop and evaluate appropriate methodologies, write standards of procedure to perform appropriate methodologies, and perform quality assurance checks to ensure that appropriate methodologies are consistently followed.
- Support NSMRL staff and other professional entities on current and future research projects.
- Recruit and monitor experimental subjects, and arrange for necessary support staff and equipment to monitor experimental subjects.
- Perform tests, surveys, investigations, and/or experiments. Obtain raw data and assemble analytic data sets, and gather test/survey/experiment results.
- Demonstrate expert working knowledge in behavioral statistical software (i.e., LISREL, SPSS, MATLAB).
- Prepare summaries and publications for non-research technical and general audiences.
- Report findings, outcomes, and recommendations to the Fleet through formal meetings, presentations, briefings and publications.
· The candidate will be required to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level.
· Due to Federal contract requirements, US citizenship is required.
· Candidates must have completed a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree from an accredited US university, or international university of equivalent standard, in experimental psychology, industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology, psychophysics, cognitive psychology, social psychology or a related field in order to successfully conduct the multi-disciplinary research approach necessary.
· Candidates must also have demonstrated evidence of scientific achievement as shown by the publication of articles and reports, membership in scientific societies, knowledge of and experience in writing and editing technical and scientific research information, as well as the ability to speak well and concisely, and confer with professional colleagues on a peer basis.
· Candidates must display a willingness to be exposed to a broad research and management experience in the human performance domain.
· Demonstrate the ability to extend and apply the knowledge of behavioral research to the missions of the NSMRL Command and the Navy.
· Strong analytical and statistical background to include quantitative and qualitative data analysis, project and program management and their application to effective behavior sciences.
· Knowledge of research examining team performance, resiliency, stress, breakdown, etc.
