Description:

Leidos is seeking a Network Engineer to support the NRC's Global Infrastructure and Development Acquisition (GLINDA) program.  The Network Engineer designs and plans network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluate communication hardware and software, troubleshoot local-, metropolitan-, and wide-area networks (LAN/MAN/WAN) and other network related problems; provide technical expertise for performance and configuration of networks. Perform general LAN/MAN/WAN administration; provide technical leadership in the integration and test of complex large-scale computer integrated networks. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. Schedule conversions and cutovers; oversee network control center and supervise maintenance of systems. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and approaches to assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results. Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives. Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations. Coordinate with all responsible users and sites. Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

 

This position is not eligible for telework.

 

The position will be based at the NRC HQ in Rockville, MD.

 

his position requires successful completion of a NRC Public Trust security investigation.


Qualifications:

Advanced level knowledge and hands-on experience with network operations and functionality of a NOC/SOC environment. Background in providing solutions for computer-related and end-user IT-issues, resolution, training and support required. Network certifications. ITIL Program Experience Foundation or better Experience with HW/SW integration such as servers, desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, peripherals, Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills.

 

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
