Sr Software Application Engineer           Egg Harbor Township NJ

Leidos is seeking a Sr Software Application Engineer who will be a member of a dynamic team working on the Time Based Flow Management (TBFM) program and related traffic flow technologies. Nationwide congestion is increasing, and the need for efficient aircraft traffic planning is critical. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), TBFM is the solution that will provide NextGen Air Traffic Control capabilities to improve air traffic operations in the National Airspace System (NAS). The purpose of traffic flow management is to maximize use of available National Airspace System (NAS) resources, while minimizing delays and disruptions to aircraft operators and their customers, as well as reducing fuel burn and engine emissions thereby decreasing user operational costs.
The Sr Software Application Engineer will join a dynamic team of experienced software engineers currently supporting both the enhancement and sustainment of the TBFM program and related traffic flow systems.

Position Responsibilities: 

Develop solutions, in collaboration with team members, to technical problems and issues using object oriented programming (Java, C, and C++) within a client-server environment and a Linux platform utilizing Atlassian tool-set 
Lead and mentor less experienced staff working to influence team members regarding solution design, principles as well as process and/or approaches
Program using Java, Java Camel and ActiveMQ 
Develop applications using a database (database modeling and structures)
Develop Algorithmic intensive systems
Develop Software for high availability systems

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, with 4-8 years of professional experience working within the aviation/air traffic control domain; or 2-6 years of the same professional experience with a related Master’s degree.
