Senior VMWare Server Administrator / Computer Systems Administrator
Leidos is looking for a Computer Systems Administrator to join our team in our Richland, WA office. The successful candidate will be part of a team that supports our Transportation Security Administration HRAccess Enterprise Environment.
In this position you will be expected to work varying hours as necessary to support ongoing operations and maintenance activity, but will primarily be Monday through Friday day shift. This program is a firm fixed price contract that provides the full scope operations and maintenance IT Infrastructure support services. The successful candidate will combine a deep understanding of core virtual system components for our VMWare Server and VDI\VDD Desktop Environment, an ability to troubleshoot using third party diagnostic and monitoring tools, logs, graphs, and performance data to maintain the health and availability of the environment.
The candidate will be a member of a team that operates at the direction of technical guides and recovery procedures to maintain system health and support outage recovery activities. Provide a point of escalation and support to the Network Operations Center. Provide 24/7 on-call support for the environment.
Will be expected to participate in weekend and nightly maintenance activities, as required. Perform general system administration duties. Produce appropriate documentation for application deployment, configuration, and related processes. Enforce change management and compliance processes. Perform routine preventative maintenance on all hardware and applications on a routine and scheduled basis. Position is expansive and additional responsibilities can be added.
Demonstrated experience in the administration of VMWare and virtual server environment as well as experience in Virtual Desktop configuration, setup and deployment in a very diverse and challenging arena.
The ability to provide systems recommendations and architecture, in an enterprise based infrastructure. Experience resolving interoperability problems across platforms and sites. Possess strong written/typing/oral communications skills.
Candidate must be process and detail-oriented. Must have excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills. Strong and effective customer service skills.
Ability to handle multiple priorities, detailed work, and deadlines. Thorough understanding of Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems. VMWare certification, knowledge of configuration management methodologies and practices.
Exposure to cloud services, large datacenters, and/or remotely administered environments. Working knowledge of enterprise routing protocols and IP subnetting including TCP/IP and DNS.
Experience with troubleshooting using Windows Server logs, Enterprise based monitoring. Outage and system recovery experience. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. Strong and effective customer service skills. Must be willing to work flexible hours and be part of an On-Call team. Effective and strong team player.
Knowledge of configuration management methodologies and practices is desired.
Ability to obtain and hold a TSA Public Trust security clearance. ******U.S. Citizenship is required******
Typical Education and Experience: BS and at least four years relevant experience or a Master's degree and at least two years relevant experience. Additional certifications and or experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
