Scientific/Embedded Software Developer
The Advanced Solutions Group (ASG) of Leidos is seeking an Embedded Software Developer for our San Diego, CA offices. ASG is actively developing the next generation of digital signal processing solutions that implement very high-performance computing in SWaP-constrained systems.
A growth mindset and a strong desire to learn new skills to tackle challenging problems in the presence of incomplete information is the priority. You will have the unique opportunity to work at the intersection of high-performance computing, real-time embedded systems, and advanced signal processing. You will be developing and testing software, but also thinking abstractly about how that software can be deployed to various architectures. You will learn several new tools for understanding software performance from inception through end-to-end testing.
The Embedded Software Developer will support many aspects of development throughout the product lifecycle. For the Embedded Software Developer, depending on the stage of the product, typical tasks may include:
•Discussing implications of hardware decisions with an SoC Architecture Team
•Testing new TLM models from the Hardware Simulation Team
•Writing and testing math kernels for specific processor cores using Instruction Set Simulators
•Developing and testing software models to predict performance prior to software development
•Developing and testing suites of architectural test software to understand performance
•Developing and testing demonstration software to showcase specific use cases
•End-to-end integration and regression testing throughout the software lifecycle
External Referral Eligible
•BS or MS degree (or comparable experience) in CS, EE, CS, or related field
•4-10 years of experience programming with embedded system architectural awareness
•Demonstrated programming skills in C/C++
•Exceptional software debugging skills
•Active DoD Secret with SSBI security clearance
•Demonstrated experience programming in resource-constrained embedded environments
The following skills are highly desired. The candidate will be expected to learn and practice these skills. Some training will be provided for industry-specific tools.
•Experience using Virtual Prototyping tools such as Synopsys’ Platform Architect
•Demonstrated programming skills in MATLAB, with an emphasis on signal processing
•Experience with integration and regression testing
•Experience using configuration management tools such as Git
•Active DOD TS security clearance
