Leidos is looking for a candidate to join our team in our Houston, TX office at Johnson Space Center (JSC).  

This position will involve all aspects of space station flight control, which includes systems monitoring, analysis, troubleshooting, flight rule and procedure development. 

This employee will also be expected to instruct Space Station Mechanism, Crew Systems and On-Orbit Maintenance (OOM) lessons to space station crew members and flight controller personnel. 

The employee must have the ability to read and understand detailed electrical, mechanical, and plumbing schematics. 

The employee will be expected to achieve certification as a Mission Control Center -Houston (MCC-H) Operations Support Officer (OSO) flight controller and/or Space Station Training Facility (SSTF) Repair and Mechanism (RAM) instructor. 

Upon eventual certification, the individual must work with limited supervision on a team with other flight controllers or instructors. During space station operations the OSO position reports to the Flight Director and coordinates system operations and failure analysis with other space station flight controllers and Mission Evaluation Room (MER) Engineering personnel. 

During space station simulations the RAM reports to the Chief Training Officer (CTO) and works with other SSTF instructors to provide realistic high stress training to flight controller personnel. 

Secondary duties require supporting meetings and concisely reporting results to management, writing systems and console procedures, and making oral presentations. 

The position requires some domestic travel and may require some international travel. 

Medical clearance necessary for flight control certification; must be able to pass Air Traffic Controller Physical. 

Candidate must be able to support a variable work schedule as shift work and holidays may be required for integrated simulations and flight support.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical preferred) is required. 

Candidate must have a technical background and a good understanding of engineering principles. 

Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated initiative, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to participate in team environment and to function well under pressure. 

Must be proficient in Windows and Microsoft applications. 

Candidate must have a strong past performance record and strong multi-tasking/work prioritization skills.
