Leidos is seeking a mid-level to senior Electrical, Instrumentation and/or Controls Engineer for a position in Northern Virginia. This position requires an active TS/SCI to start, and candidate will be required to submit for polygraph. Candidate will be part of a team conducting applied research and development, including the development and assessment of models and simulation of real-world systems.

The successful candidate will:
* provide in-depth engineering analysis, assessment and characterization of notional and actual facility installations with special emphasis on the installation’s electrical feed (distribution and transmission), backup power generation, process controls, and security posture. 
* Interface with customer support activities, to include field testing and CONUS travel;
* Provide relevant fixes to identified problems;
* Analyze complex system requirements;
* Prepare required program and user level documentation;
* Provide guidance in software development techniques;
* Coordinate activities to ensure proper implementation according to specifications; develop system alternative solutions;
* Prepare test plans and test data of cross domain system;
* Participate in project reviews

Education: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Chemical Engineering or a related field, with at least 6 years of relevant work experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in these same fields with 8 years of relevant work experience. 
Required Skills: The successful candidate must:

*have fluency in MATLAB, SIMULINK or similar simulation environment
*possess strong analytical skills in the areas of adaptive filter theory, spectral estimation, detection and estimation theory, linear algebra, and/or stochastic processes
*be able to work well in a small team environment, to include providing data collection and analysis support at customer sponsored field tests   
*Experience in Industrial Controls Systems and/or SCADA, particularly in a chemical manufacturing facility
*Experience with AnlyLogic, RePast or other modeling and simulation software packages
*Experience with high performance computing (HPC)
*Familiarity across operating systems, including Windows, Linux, Mac OSX, MS-DOS, and SUN
*Experience with software programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Google Sketchup, TerraExplorer
