Leidos has an opening for a software developer in support of the FreeFlyer and Flight Dynamics Software Development and Sustaining team responsible for trajectory modeling and related applications for the Mission Control Center at NASA JSC.  Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to International Space Station systems and commercial and exploration space vehicles.  The software will interface with the International Space Station computers.  Will apply the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle.  Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software and related subject matter to be programmed into the software.  Corrects programming errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve
questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met. The software models the launch, ascent, trajectory, flight path, and re-entry for
space vehicles and ensure safety critical requirements are met. Candidate must have prior NASA domain experience and should have a good understanding of automated test methods. Applications are written in Java and run on Windows workstations. The candidate must have experience with Java software development on Windows or Linux operating systems. Should have experience with developing complex graphical user interfaces for user interaction with the modeling software. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of programming specialists in a fast cycle agile programming environment. Ability to work in a team setting is a must. Experience implementing trajectory computations and mathematical models is desired. Candidate will participate in software development environment to upgrade a diverse base of existing applications supporting NASA / JSC Flight controller disciplines from
an existing support environment into a more advanced operational environment currently being implemented to support future NASA Manned Space Flight missions.






EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Typically requires BS and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience.


Required Skills: Java and/or C++ and project experience in a Windows development environment. Working knowledge of the International Space Station and Orion trajectory modeling is desired. Strong knowledge of ISO and/or software development processes and procedures.
Desired Skills:
Experience/Understanding of aerodynamics and flight dynamics.
