Leidos is looking for a Systems Engineer to join a program in the Northern Virginia area. This position requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph in order to be considered.

The candidate is responsible for designing, engineering, implementing, and maintaining enterprise quality systems, networks, and applications. The candidate is responsible for engineering, implementing, and maintaining a fault tolerant, highly redundant network. The candidate will provide technical oversight of a project solution, including requirement interpretation and allocation of requirements to technical components. They will support processes to implement requirements. They are responsible for ensuring that technical solutions leverage industry best practices, designing for security and excellence while minimizing the total cost of ownership. Candidate should be able to define IT infrastructure architecture needs and then provide solution options to meet those needs to include, capacity planning, systems configuration, tuning, monitoring, backups, hardware and software installations.

Mandatory Skills:

- Typically requires BS degree and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain. 
- Knowledge of Storage Area Networks (SAN), including design, provisioning, capacity planning, and maintenance. 
- Experience building, configuring and troubleshooting customized forensic workstations. 
- Experience in the design, engineering, testing, and implementation of migrating Hyper-V virtual machines from Windows 2008 to Windows 2012 R2 cluster Hyper-V environment.
- Hands on experience with SQL Server 2008 - 2014 database software, installation, configuration and troubleshooting. 
- Knowledge of network design (LAN & WAN), including backup systems and disaster recovery architectures (DR). 
- Hands on experience with multiple (Windows, Linux) operating systems. 
- Experience evaluating hardware and software products against requirements for technical evaluation and potential procurement. 
- Familiarity with Network Monitoring Appliances. 

Desired Skills:

- Familiarity with planning, designing, implementation and maintenance of infrastructure including cisco routers, cisco switches, wireless networking, VPN’s, Firewalls and network security.
- Demonstrated experience providing recommendations in technical standards and security standards.
- Familiarity with shell scripting.
