The Health Products and Solutions Operation currently has an opening for a Sr. Systems Administrator to support a large healthcare contract in Rockville, MD. This position is contingent on contract award.
Provide operations support for Web middleware application components.
Install, configure, and support Web infrastructure components (e.g., hardened servers, middleware, SSL certificates).
Act as single point of contact for coordination and support of key Web infrastructure components (e.g., load balancing, DMZ infrastructure, middleware, firewall).
Manage web proxy services including, but not limited to, user support, administration, and management.
Monitor and report on HHS web site activity (i.e. inbound and outbound internet traffic, bandwidth usage, number of web site hits, availability and response time).
Develop architecture and design standards for the web hosting environment.
Provide assistance in the development of architecture and design of the web hosting environment (e.g., performance tuning, security).
Perform systems implementation of web hosting services.
Install code fixes for all related web services elements (e.g., hardware, middleware and application servers).
Deploy and support web hosting hardware and software.
Support non-functional compliance and performance testing and security assessments.
Perform day-to-day management of the Government-provided server environment, and effectively and efficiently performing procedures to ensure services meet regulatory requirements.
Recommend and implement distributed server strategy, policies, architecture, standards, and requirements.
Participate in change control meetings with the customer CCB
Coordinate with application server groups (e.g., database access and rights, application ACL).
Monitor, operate, maintain, and support operating systems installed on servers.
Iinstall new servers, upgrade, troubleshoot, repair, and/or rebuild existing servers.
Implement virtualized server technologies where so requested by the Government.
Actively monitor software release of new patches or upgrades from original equipment manufacturers
Determine whether the patch or upgrade is necessary, obtain customer approval and direction on release, test prior to release unless otherwise directed, and implement the patch or upgrade.
Schedule downtime and plan such that end users are notified well in advance to avoid or mitigate inconveniences in accordance with the Government-approved configuration management process.
Perform server backups as per Government-approved scheduled.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 4-8 years of general experience.
MCSA Web Applications Certification, Experience with Microsoft FIM/MIM, Strong AD and Microsoft Server administration Experience.
Experience with MS SQL v2008R2-2016, Experience managing MS SQL in enterprise environment running a mix of MS Server and RHEL., MCSA SQL certification
