Job Description

The Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group of Leidos is seeking a talented Senior RF Seeker Research Engineer for our Eglin Air Force Base, Florida location.

Successful candidate will perform radar system component technology development for imaging RF seekers on high speed guided munitions, focusing on those aspects of the seeker most affected by high speed operation. Perform modeling and simulation to quantify antenna and radome RF propagation performance, including assembling a modeling and simulation tools suite to support multi-fidelity models from empirical through solution of governing differential equations.

Develop and perform experiments from phenomenology-level to hardware component performance. Report to and coordinate with the customer on a daily basis ensuring all objectives are met. Prepare written and verbal deliverables, reports and presentations for management and customer review as required by the contract.

Develop the RF seeker hardware trade space and perform subsystem technology trades. Identify technology maturation areas to be developed. Develop component technologies to advance the state of the art.

Qualifications:

Education:   Candidate must have a Masters or Ph.D. in an Electrical or Aerospace (or similar) Engineering, Physics or Mathematics, and a 10+ years of RF seeker hardware technology development experience.

Knowledge:  Knowledge of RF seeker hardware components including antennas, radomes, transmit/receive modules, waveguides, etc. for both gimbaled and strap down systems.  Ability to apply modeling and simulation to develop seeker component models that can be integrated into a complete missile system simulation. Preference will be given for candidates with experience on supersonic weapon RF seekers including performance in a dynamic closing engagement, and for with demonstrated experience in low-cost munition seekers.  Preference will be given to those with experience with innovative antenna and radome designs.

Complexity:  Resolves highly complex problems using significant application of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation.   Develops solutions that are highly innovative, and achieved through research and integration of best practices. Dependability, initiative, and ability to solve problems both as part of a team and as an individual performer is a must.

Communication:  Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work in a collaborative, fast paced, team environment.

Software:    Must be familiar with HFSS software (or equivalent) and must be proficient with MS Office.

Clearance:  Must be a U.S. citizen with an active SECRET security clearance.

Desired Skills

Experience in Matlab and Simulink and/or high temperature RF aperture materials is a plus.  Experience with monopulse antenna design and/or processing is a plus.

TRAVEL: Attend technical reviews and professional conferences, estimated < 10%.
