Description:

Leidos’s Military & Veterans Health Solutions Group is currently looking for a Research Associate to support psychological research operations at the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory (NSMRL). NSMRL conducts research and investigates the effects of medical, psychological, and performance issues associated with the health and performance of naval personnel in operational and non-operational settings.

 

 

Specific responsibilities include:

 

·        Provide planning support for various research efforts.

·        Conduct literature searches and draft literature reviews and bibliographies for the development of research proposals.

·        Support the execution of research protocols.

·        Perform elementary statistical analysis and evaluation of data.

·        Participate in the drafting and editing of technical reports, manuscripts, and presentations detailing results and the appropriate inferences to be drawn from results.

·        Act as Institutional Review Board recorder.

·        Schedule, coordinate, and plan meetings and conferences for on-site, off-site, and telecommunication.

·        Support the development of new initiatives in the area of Submarine Medicine as required.

·        Provide documentation support for various projects or studies with reports, papers, research protocols, presentations, and posters. Document work in laboratory notebooks and documentation binders.

·        Provide other research support to various experimental protocols as required.


Qualifications:

Requirements:

·        This position typically requires a BA/BS degree and 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 years of prior relevant experience.

·        Candidates must have documented evidence of research methods experience (thesis or course work in research methods).

·        The candidate will be required to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level.  Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level.

·        Due to Federal contract requirements, US citizenship is required.

·        Experience in a human subject research setting is required.

·        Candidates must demonstrate the ability to interact and effectively communicate both written and orally with a wide variety of people.

·        The candidate must be capable of performing work independently.

 

Ideal Skills:

·        Experience in a military scientific/medical research environment or with Navy Medicine terminology and/or resources is preferred.

·        Skills should include a foundational and theoretical understanding of general scientific principles.

·        Familiarity with the IRB process, HIPAA, PHI/PII compliance, etc. is highly desired.

·        Computer literacy, Microsoft Office proficiency and working knowledge of statistical software preferred.

 

Work Location:

·        Work is to be performed on a government installation.

·        This is a full-time position; the normal work week is Monday through Friday, 0800-1630.

·        CONUS travel (~10%) may be required.
