The Health Products and Solutions Operation currently has an opening for a Systems Engineer to support a large healthcare contract in Rockville, MD. This position is contingent on contract award.
Provide Desktop Virtualization engineering support
Planning and analysis, requirements development, design, development /engineering, and solution pilot over a time phased period for desktop virtualization
Conduct desktop virtualization project planning and analysis resulting in a documented Desktop Virtualization Project Management Plan (PMP) that describes what must be accomplished, how desktop virtualization will be done, how the effort will be scheduled, what resources are needed, and how the desktop virtualization effort will be monitored and controlled.
Conduct requirements gathering for a desktop virtualization solution to produce a draft requirements document.
Conduct requirements validation with relevant government personnel.
Deliver a final validated requirements document.
Prepare for and facilitate Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings with designated customer representatives to further validate the desktop virtualization requirements.
Prepare IPT meeting presentation materials and document IPT meeting notes from each of the IPT sessions.
Conduct research on available technologies that exist in the marketplace.
Acquire in-depth product knowledge from desktop virtualization industry leaders to produce a Desktop Virtualization Market Research Report that clearly outlines the leaders and their products in the desktop virtualization marketplace.
Produce a comparative analysis on the strengths and weaknesses of industry leader’s products in relationship to virtual desktop brokers, backend infrastructures, client access, connection servers, network and transport systems, security and authentication systems, storage platforms and compute and server platforms.
Develop desktop virtualization solution architecture artifacts and a design document.
Develop a Desktop Virtualization Migration Plan for the pilot
Develop/engineer and test the virtual desktop solution
Execute the pilot deployment per the approved Desktop Virtualization Pilot Migration Plan. Upon completion of the Desktop Virtualization Pilot, deliver a Desktop Virtualization Pilot After Action Report (AAR) documenting pilot successes, challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations for future deployment.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and eight (8) years of general experience. Six (6) years of general experience is considered equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree. With a Master’s degree, six (6) years of general experience is required. With a PhD, four (4) years of general experience is required.
A strong background in the deployment and support of virtualization technologies:
Desktop Virtualization (non-persistent)
Researches, designs, develops and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software.
Designs, develops, tests, and debugs complex new software products, or makes significant enhancements to existing software.
Resolves complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations.
Researches emerging technologies to determine impact on application execution.
Provides input to staff involved in writing and updating technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials.
Troubleshoots complex problems and provides customer support for software operating systems and application issues.
Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced software engineers.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
