Chief of Party/Project Director
The Public Health Operations is currently seeking a Chief of Party Project Director to support a large healthcare contract. This position is contingent upon contract award.
Primary responsibilities are to provide overall leadership, management, and general technical direction of the Project, ensuring an integrated vision among different components and actors, and a focus on achieving results.. This individual must identify issues and risks related to project implementation in a timely manner, and suggest appropriate adjustments. This individual must act as the key liaison with USAID and all other counterparts and implementing partners. The position requires significant coordination skills, broad general and technical knowledge, an ability to cope with multiple interests and challenges, experience in developing countries, and skills to ensure coherence and consistency in the face of urgent deadlines.
The minimum qualifications for the COP candidate include:
• a Ph.D. degree in laboratory science, public health, public policy, infectious diseases, or related field of study and at least eight (8) years of progressively responsible work experience implementing development programs with demonstrated strong management and coordinating skills; or a Master’s degree in a similar field and ten (12) years of similar experience; and
• at least five (5) years of management experience, including direct supervision of professional and support staff and assembling teams working on multifaceted, complex international development programs; and
• previous experience as a successful COP, experience working on One Health, and/or experience as a project director.
• Prior experience directing a USAID project highly desirable
The preferred candidate will also have at least five (5) years of experience living and working in a developing country, preferably in the Africa or Asia regions;
