Senior One Health Specialist
The Public Health Operations is currently seeking a Senior One Health Specialist to support a large healthcare contract. This position is contingent upon contract award.
Primary responsibilities are to provide technical guidance and facilitation in strengthening national leadership, build organizational and team skills, promote and enable the functioning of One Health approaches to zoonotic disease detection and response. The ideal candidate will be skilled in strategic thinking and planning, team building processes, and communications, especially across technical disciplines and ministries. The candidate will also possess skills in leadership development, change management, participatory processes, and collaborative working relationships. The Senior One Health Specialist will provide critical, strategic planning and management of activities related to strengthening diagnostic and laboratory systems in the detection of diseases of public health importance including zoonotic and antimicrobial resistance in priority diseases.
The minimum qualifications for the Senior One Health Specialist candidate include:
• Master’s degree in public health, veterinary medicine, public policy, or communications or related field of study and at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible work experience in applying One Health approaches to disease detection, surveillance, prevention and response.;
• Strong knowledge of and experience working with animal, human and environmental health specialists on Avian Influenza, MERS, Ebola and or Zika outbreaks
• At least five (5) years of experience working with governments and/or development organizations in developing countries, preferably in Africa and/or Asia.
