Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Defense and Intelligence Business Unit currently has an opening for a Geophysicist located in Reston, VA. The candidate should have substantial and relevant experience in leveraging geophysical science to bear on unique problems related to surveillance, monitoring, detection, classification and characterization of targets of interest using various types of collection devices (seismic, hydro-acoustic, infrasound). The selected candidate will be an experienced analyst with specific experience in technical reporting, sensors and signal processing. Additionally, having field experience and knowledge of emplacing sensors and having a general understanding of data collection and exploitation of various ground sensing technologies would be preferred. Prior experience in working within the US Intelligence Community is critical. The ability to be proactive and work with minimal supervision will be essential

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide technical support to the customer in a geophysical sensor deployment and data analysis program. Produce technical documents for deployed sensor systems, geophysical capability gap analysis, and on current or new intelligence systems applicable to the problem at hand. The candidate will provide support to the multiple planning meetings, Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) and any other meetings which may be convened by the various organizations and agencies participating in the task effort. The candidate shall work closely with the Government program manager to coordinate the deployment of sensors, and in the analysis of the collected data. This person will work with a combination of open source and classified datasets and geophysical analysis software, both GFE and developed by the person, to build specific capabilities for the customer. The person will have some travel to present results in conferences in the NCR, and in possibly in field deployment exercises.


Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Typically requires BS and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Physics, Geophysics, Geology or a related discipline, and 5+ years’ experience developing technical solutions, sensor deployment, and scientific analysis with geophysical applications.
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Extensive knowledge of Matlab
  • Extensive experience with signal processing
  • Experience with numerical computation techniques
  • Can work independently with little oversight/guidance

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MS in Geophysics or Physics
  • Understanding of the Intelligence Community
  • MASINT data analysis experience
  • Geophysical field deployment experience
  • TS/SCI with Polygraph
