Description:

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Facilities Maintenance and Engineering (FME) Directorate is responsible for laboratory space, administrative space, infrastructure, campus landscape, planning, and design, and construction management at Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research.

 KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES-THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING APPROVAL

  • The Coordinator oversees, coordinates, and documents preventative and routine maintenance of facility and utility systems, including, but not limited to, refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), steam, condensation, plumbing, and electrical systems using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • The Coordinator, working directly with maintenance shop supervisors, is responsible for developing, scheduling, and assessing the performance of preventive maintenance (PM) programs for new assets using equipment data and manuals for mechanical, electrical and facility systems.  The development of PM activities shall include a job plan, PM frequency/schedule, estimated PM cost with labor and materials
  • Coordinates with Supervisors responsible for the successful and timely completion of established maintenance tasks. This can include analysis of progress and scheduling and resource management and recommendations to the supervisors to support the timely execution of the maintenance tasks
  • The Coordinator will walk the entire facility on a regular basis to maintain detailed knowledge of existing and new assets. Regular site visits will include labeling of new assets, decommissioning of old assets, coordination as needed with LBR Property & Accountability


Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education); Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • 6 years of relevant experience in the planning and assessment of repair and maintenance of industrial or commercial facilities
  • A valid Driver’s License is required
  • Perform physical duties including frequently lifting and carrying up to 50lbs
  • Duties include walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and working in and outdoors, in confined areas, potential exposure to particulates, vapors or noisy environment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Advanced-level computer literacy is required to include Microsoft Office, specifically Access Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Direct and sustained experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as Maximo or similar, including data entry and scheduling
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and recent experience with OSHA, NFPA and NEC.

  • Constructs forecasts, recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge. 
  • Creates specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and data elements required or available.
  • May provide consultation to users and lead cross-functional teams to address business issues. 
  • May directly produce data sets and reports for analysis using system reporting tools.
