Technical Writer Intern
Leidos is seeking a Technical Writer Intern to collaborate as part of a team of engineers to put our best foot forward on paper for an unmanned autonomous ship project. Our customers want us to explain how our complex systems work, and we need someone who can effectively document our system architecture and approaches.
You’ll be working as part of an integrated Scrum team, a team that’s collaborating to build systems to control unmanned ships. As we work through each Sprint, you’ll take responsibility for interviewing others on the team and working together to find the words to capture what we’ve done. You will write and edit technical documents, including business proposals, reports, user manuals, briefings and presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, special reports, and other documents to communicate with our management and our customers.
Interns may travel up to two weeks during the summer to collaborate with our team members at other locations.
Pursuing degree in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Technical Writing, English, or other technical or communications related fields, with a graduation date in 2019.
Technical writing specific background or a background in technical documentation
Familiarity with programming
Familiarity with Unified Modeling Language (UML)
Familiarity with Microsoft Viso, MagicDraw, or Enterprise Architect
