The Architect Engineer Subject Matter Expert will:

Provide support to facilities planning, design, construction management, and execution
Provide cost estimations
Coordinate building schedules
Conduct risk assessments
Ensure building plans are within customer requirements, expectations, and mission
Manage teams of architects, engineers, and security professionals
Support the integration of new engineering changes, technologies, and upgrades into current and future systems, including performance requirements and capabilities analysis, engineering analysis to support analysis of alternatives in acquisition and architecture trade studies

research, calculation, design, development, construction, alteration or repair of buildings and/or structures. Duties may include collecting and analyzing technical data to determine project requirements and prepares information regarding specifications, materials, equipment, estimated costs, and completion times. May also conduct inspections or testing. IMPACT: Influences development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results. Recommends and develops new technical solutions, products, and/or standards in support of function’s strategy and operations. Leads and manages works of other technical staff that has significant impact on project results/outputs. COMPLEXITY: Resolves highly complex problems using significant application of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation. Develops solutions that are highly innovative, and achieved through research and integration of best practices. COMMUNICATION: Requires ability to communicate with executive leadership (internally or client) regarding matters of significant importance to the organization/project. Works to convince others to accept area’s view/current practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices and approaches. LEADERSHIP & TALENT MANAGEMENT: KNOWLEDGE: Has in-depth understanding of technical principles, theories, concepts and their application across range of programs. Serves as a subject matter expert within technical domain area.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management Discipline


12 years of experience supporting the IC

12 years of work experience related to the technical requirement against which the individual is slated to perform.

5 years of experience working with or in the USIC (may be concurrent with the requisite 12 years of work experience)

5 or more years of inter-agency experience in the IC directly supporting the CI community.

Thorough knowledge of Overseas Security Policy Board (OSPB), Department of State, and IC policies and security standards, relating to construction.

Experience conducting liaison on security related issues

Knowledge and experience with applicable standards, regulations, and policies related to physical security of facilities and systems including construction security certification and accreditation program guidelines.


Strong written and oral communication skills

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including a demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team or collaborative environment

Ability to travel OCONUS and CONUS
