The Health Group (HG) is looking for a Technical Writer to respond to solicited requests from the federal Government.
The writer will be responsible for editing, proofreading and providing writing support on non-technical and/or technical sections of proposals, such as the executive summary, technical approach, management approach, staffing plans, transition, quality assurance, past performance, resumes, etc. Responsibilities include: developing compliant content with clarity and overall cohesiveness; ensuring documents meet RFP requirements; adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style; incorporating capture plan strategy and win themes.
The technical writer may interface with proposal managers, program/project managers, illustrators, and other personnel in coordinating/preparing the edited draft. Responsibilities include: interviewing subject matter experts; translating information into compliant and compelling technical content; reviewing rough drafts and making suggestions for content improvements; and recovering content from color reviews.
The technical writer must be able to work in tight timelines and aggressive schedules as required by each proposal effort. The writer will work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors and provide thought leadership to the technical teams. Must be able to: interpret RFP requirements and describe (in consultation with SMEs) how Leidos’s approach provides a high-quality, low-risk, best-value solution; exercise independent judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results; contribute to the development of organization's goals and objectives; involve comprehensive knowledge of this administrative field; and complete difficult and complex assignments.
The technical writer will be required to accomplish work without considerable direction and will have significant latitude in determining objectives of assignments. The writer may also be required to determine methods and procedures on new assignments and to provide guidance to contributing writers and other personnel as needed.
The writer will be responsible for providing writing, editing, and proofreading support on technical or non-technical sections of proposals, such as the executive summary, technical approach, management approach, staffing plans, transition, quality assurance, past performance, resumes, etc. Responsibilities include: developing compliant content with clarity and overall cohesiveness; synthesizing the work of multiple other contributors into a unified, “single-voiced” document; ensuring documents meet RFP requirements; adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style; incorporating capture plan strategy and win themes; and meeting strict timelines.
Additional responsibilities include: frequent interaction with functional peer group managers, capture team, technical team and proposal team; interaction with senior management; interaction with subcontractor technical staff. Must attend regular HG proposal team meetings as well as assigned proposal team meetings.
Must have a bachelor's degree, preferably in Technical Writing, English, Journalism, or a health-related field and a minimum of 4 years of proposal writing experience.
Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work in challenging virtual environments with team members. Must be able to work under pressure and within defined process and timelines; must be able to multitask, and must work within the assigned work hours required of the given proposal effort. Must have experience writing to or supporting proposals for the federal government. Strong interpersonal skills required.
Bachelor's degree or higher, and 4 years of proposal writing experience in health solutions and services is preferred.
