Sr Electrical Engineer (Arc Flash) Fort Worth TX
Leidos is seeking a Sr Electrical Engineer to support our FAA customer in Fort Worth, TX. The electrical engineer will be expected to conduct and/or provide oversight for Arc Flash studies of varying size and complexity. This task includes on-site data collection activities, calculations, report review, and coordination with other lines of business within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ensure a quality product. Electrical Engineers will also be expected to consult on electrical safety issues throughout the FAA through the use of standards including but not limited to OSHA, NEC (NFPA 70), and NFPA 70E. Electrical engineers will support the FAA as a subject matter expert in Electrical Safety. Electrical engineers will be expected to complete assignments to adhere to long-term goals set by management.
Typical Education and Experience: Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, with 8 years of professional experience; or 6 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Requires in-depth knowledge of NFPA 70E and applicable OSHA standards, working knowledge of the NEC, and demonstrated working experience on or around energized equipment in an industrial setting including proper PPE in order to ensure a safe work environment and personnel safety.
The successful candidate will :
Have experience conducting Arc Flash Hazard Analysis using NFPA 70E and IEEE standards
Be able to use Arc Flash software, such as SKM, to produce analysis reports and conduct report reviews.
Possess experience in the most current electrical engineering principles and practices.
Possess a thorough understanding of Arc Flash Analysis protocols and concepts. Must have conducted Arc Flash Analysis (from conception to execution) and provided direct supervisory oversight of the project.
Have at least 5 years of hands-on field experience in the electrical trades related to Arc Flash Analysis, and a strong working knowledge of the basic concepts of short circuit and coordination studies.
Have experience in Electrical Safety and knowledge of associated safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, ASTM). Exhibit excellent communication skills to be used in responding to electrical safety questions and performing program presentations.
Desired experience: Professional Engineer (PE) in Electrical Engineering and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) knowledge and experience.
