Leidos is actively interviewing for an upcoming opportunity for a Health Physicist Test Scientist to join our team at Kirtland AFB, NM.

Perform as the Radiological Safety officer (RSO), Laser Safety officer and a test team member supporting a DoD organization. Provide local oversight for the organization’s broad scope radiologic license. Review and recommend radiological controls and requirements for specific research and test events. Maintain the radiologic inventory, conduct the periodic leak sampling, maintain the sampling equipment and maintain documentation as required by the license and the organization. Train and document local users of radioactive material IAW the organization’s broadscope radioactive license and industry standard radioactive safety procedures. Perform and oversee all requirements to process, ship, and receive Class 7 Radioactive Material. Review potential test programs and provide recommendations on whether the organization can conduct a planned test event and what limitations may exist or be required.

Performing Radiological Safety Officer and Laser Safety Officer duties
Coordinating with government customers on a routine basis to plan future tests and review test and program results 
Training local users of radioactive material IAW organization’s radioactive license and industry standard radioactive safety procedures
Planning, execution and integration of tests into government test plans   
Interpreting test results
Communicating of test results in both oral and written formats

Be certified by the American Board of Health Physicists in the Comprehensive Practice of Health Physics (CHP)
Possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited university/college in science or engineering 
Possess at least 2 years’ experience as a RSO and LSO with hands on use of radioactive materials.
Possess, or able to obtain within 60 days, DoD's As-Low-As Reasonably Allowable (ALARA) Certification
Possess, or able to obtain within 60 days certifications in CPR and First Aid
U.S. citizen
Eligible for Top Secret/ Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)  clearance

Knowledge of Countering WMD chemical threats or CBRN threats
Familiarity with radiation detection design
Top Secret clearance
