This position is in support of the United States Attorneys Office in San Francisco, CA, at 450 Golden Gate Avenue. The estimated length of this assignment is through June 9, 2019 with potential for ONE (1) one year extension through June 9, 2020. With proper approvals, works overtime depending on work and caseload. The individual will support the administrative and litigative needs of large, complex and demanding criminal case loads for active matters under investigation and in litigation. Given priorities shift frequently, the individual may be used in any program area in the criminal division. Changes in assignments will be made based on the priorities and needs of the office. The Employee will typically perform the following tasks, but not limited to: a. Provide data analysis, research, word processing, and other assistance to Criminal Division Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs). b. Perform substantive legal research and writing. c. Cite check briefs, ensuring all legal citations are accurate and up-to-date. d. Fact check legal briefs, ensuring that all factual references are accurate. e. Proofread briefs for typographical, grammatical, and substantive errors. f. Prepare, review, sort, and analyze electronic evidence, and discovery to include the establishment and maintenance of effective systems of compiling, indexing, and organizing electronic information and its sources. g. Assist AUSAs with trial preparation by compiling, organizing, and indexing various evidentiary exhibits. h. Assist AUSAs with creation and presentation of demonstrative evidence during trial, to include the preparation of power point slides, charts, tables, graphs, or other visual aids to be used at trial. i. Assist AUSAs with coordination of work between the assigned AUSAs and law enforcement entities. j. Provide organizational support for investigative and trial teams. k. In the absence of available legal assistant support, help to prepare briefs for filing (preparing tables of contents and authorities, copying and binding and help to arrange moot courts.

Lead Gen

* Proven excellent written and oral communication skills. * Requires paralegal certificate. An equivalent level of legal training may be substituted with the approval of the COR. * Requires Bachelor's Degree or four years of additional, directly relevant to the work experience * One (1) year of professional experience with basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research. * Ability to create tables of contents and authorities, prepare, revise, and format legal documents (primarily lengthy briefs and appendices) from e-mail, markup, or handwritten sources, or other legal sources. * Ability to work with and create Word documents in redlined versions and to convert documents to PDF form. * Ability to manage electronic databases. * Ability to pay attention to detail and deliver highest quality work under time constraints or other demanding work requirements. * Ability to perform routine tasks that include, but are not limited to copying, mailing, closing files, maintaining pleadings. * Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging. * Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Access or other data bases), Word Perfect and Adobe Acrobat Professional or similar applications. Willingness to update computer skills as necessary to meet continually changing demands. * Works and interacts professionally and effectively with all levels of staff. * Ability to meet established deadlines and work as a team player in a professional office. * Skilled in meeting and dealing with people in a courteous and tactful manner. * Works in an office setting; some walking, standing, bending and carrying of small office items is required. * Ability to obtain a security clearance. * Must be a U.S. Citizen. Desired Skills: * Experience working in a Government and/or Litigation Support environment in conjunction with basic qualifications * Experience in Criminal cases. * Trial experience helpful.
