Leidos has job opening for a Sustainability Intern in Reston, VA.
The Sustainability Intern will work on a range of projects and assignments that support Leidos Sustainability efforts. Intern will be given responsibilities that will assist their learning and experience in data gathering/management/reporting and practical aspects of environmental sustainability management in a large and complex organization.
-Work closely with Leidos Sustainability Program Manager as well as HQ and Corporate Responsibility teams to collect ESG data.
-Assist in providing secretariat services to the Sustainability Working Group, including assisting in implementing decisions of the SWG, preparing reports and other documents for meetings and researching relevant information and presenting data using Excel and Power Point, among other software.
-Help develop our annual sustainability report.
-Assist in managing our internal sustainability efforts.
Help develop/manage Green Team programs for area offices to include:
-Assist in developing programs to improve Recycling.
-Assist in volunteer recruitment and educational efforts for the Green Teams.
-Evaluate property execution of recycling and other “green team” initiatives.
-Assist in the development of sustainability communication campaigns.
-Improve our sustainability website, create blog articles, post success stories.
-Update/manage our sustainability share drive.
-Other related duties, as required.
-Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Business Administration, Renewable Energy or similar degree/program from an accredited university, with a minimum 3.2 GPA.
-Rising Junior, senior or first year graduate student.
-Experience with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) / sustainability reporting standards such as GRI, CDP, TCR, etc.
-Experience creating annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) or sustainability reports.
-Experience in corporate social responsibility, sustainability, philanthropy, and/or employee volunteerism.
-Passion for sustainability issues and a desire to gain practical knowledge of sustainability efforts
-Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
-Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
-Keen attention to detail.
-Ability to work independently.
-Experience with Sharepoint.
-Experience with JIVE or other online collaboration/social software for business.
-Strong sense of integrity and ethics.
-Demonstrates strong intellectual curiosity; always seeking new approaches and challenging the organization to new levels of success.
-Strong Organizational Skills.
-Excellent professional demeanor with the ability to work with a wide range of levels of management.
-Authorization to work permanently in the U.S.
