Leidos has an exciting entry level opportunity for an Intern System Administrator on the EIACSS IATI program in Washington, DC (metro accessible). This program provides security solutions to customers within the Department of Justice.  This is an entry level position where the employee applies the basic fundamentals, concepts, procedures so as to acquire the knowledge and experience to become fully proficient in the duties of the job. POSITION SUMMARY: In this position, you will be assigned to a highly technical team consisting of network engineers, developers, system administrators, integrators, and system engineers supporting the FBI Security Technology Integration Unit program. Specific responsibilities include:


-Assists in system administration efforts of cross domain security solutions and other security technologies for development and testing in a laboratory (data center) environment which replicates production systems.


-Involved in the system lifecycle from concept development, design, implementation, integration and deployment, obtaining knowledge in systems engineering, system administration, integration, and test and system security.


-Assist bare metal server builds, installation, hardening, patching, backup and restoral of Linux systems.


-Assists in implementing component patches and configuration actions to address security issues.


-Obtain knowledge and experience in Virtual Environment administration; Installation, configuration, and managements of: Type 1 hypervisors (ESXi, KVM, others), Virtual Machine configurations, and VM Management environment.


-Provide both remedial and preventive maintenance on existing systems and new systems transitioning from development to production.


- Follow change management process including creating required change management documentation.



TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school education or equivalent and 1+ years of related experience. Candidates must be enrolled in a degree program in a relevant discipline.
