Job Responsibilities:
The Project Manager – New Initiatives (PM) is a newly created position with the responsibility to implement new program and customer-focused initiatives, plan and oversee execution of these initiatives, and ensure initiatives are successfully accomplished. 

Work with the team to coordinate and help develop Hawai‘i Energy’s program strategy, while identifying opportunities and looking for synergies with the Clean Energy Allies, customers, non-profits, and community groups who are engaged in sustainability and energy efficiency, resiliency, and clean energy.    Once initiatives are approved, the PM will have full ownership to execute these initiatives as part of the Hawai‘i Energy program.   

Be responsible for helping frame identified opportunities into clear initiatives and obtain partners’ buy-in.  The PM will ensure effective coordination across cross-functional teams, quickly identify potential risks to plan, and execute programs and initiatives to a successful project conclusion, on schedule and within budget.  The PM will run project team meetings and address issues and risks to the project by ensuring proper resources are engaged to mitigate and address issue.  In most instances, the PM will ensure projects can be effectively implemented and handed over to the Program Delivery team for on-going execution.
Build and deliver project status updates for internal and external stakeholders, as well as program leadership.   The PM must have the ability to handle several initiatives concurrently.

Work on other strategic special projects at the direction of Director or Deputy Director.  

Occasional travel to neighbor islands may be required.  Ability to work after hours and weekends to help Hawai‘i Energy maintain a community presence at public events may be required from time to time.  Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Typically requires a BA degree and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience.
Must be entrepreneurial, collaborative, and own end-to-end deliverables. 
Passionate about and committed to Hawai‘i Energy’s mission and goals.
Have Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering.
At least 5 years of direct experience in project management.
Demonstrated track record of managing high value projects delivered on time and within budget.  
Experience working with and engaging diverse and inclusive groups of external stakeholders on a range of issues and circumstances while maintaining ongoing dialogue and implementing solutions on issues of mutual importance.
Demonstrated experience building and managing relationships, including an ability to reach a shared objective and drive towards business results.
Self-motivated and pro-active with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities.
Excellent communication skills.  Approach conversations by listening, asking questions, and challenging assumptions.
Demonstrated experience and a passion and tenacity for solving problems through creativity and resourcefulness.
Strong understanding of energy, energy efficiency, and clean energy.
Proven experience successfully working in cross-functional teams and resolving issues and working towards agreements while having the ability to drive outcomes from all team members, including those that are not direct reports.  

Desirable Qualifications:  
Certified Project Management Professional.
CEM, LEED AP, or have other energy and sustainability certifications.
Masters of Business Administration degree.
Action oriented and good business acumen; eager to take on more and improve rapidly.
Experience in the energy, lighting, HVAC, industrial, manufacturing, and renewable energy.  
You have the ability to drive and track issues and tasks and prioritize on a daily basis.
