This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills to help in designing, upgrading and maintaining aircraft modifications on the U.S. Army’s Airborne Reconnaissance Low
Enhanced mission DHC-8-300 fleet. ARL-E is a multi-year program supporting the U.S. Army with upgrading and enhancing the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities of their airborne reconnaissance fleet.
In this position your primary responsibilities will include generating and revising finite element analysis (FEA) models, drafting structural reports and working with mechanical design team and FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DERs) to substantiate aircraft modifications. Secondary responsibilities may include mechanical model and drawing peer reviews to provide structural design guidance, and assist with oversight of static load test events and composite material allowables testing. Employee will report to Airframe Lead, but will interact closely with entire mechanical engineering team, subcontractor FAA DERs and program management.
- B.S in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- 2-4 years of aircraft structural substantiation experience; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Experience developing FEA models and performing analysis
- Experience with drafting structural substantiation reports
- Strong communication skills for collaboration
- Positive attitude, ability to multi-task and possess strong time management skills
- Experience with NASTRAN/FEMAP software
- Familiar with Military and/or FAA airworthiness substantiation requirements
