Leidos Civil Transportation and Finance Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer for the Geostationary Communications and Control Segment (GCCS) program located in Gaithersburg, MD. The candidate will be responsible for the RF Uplink Line Replaceable Unit (RFU LRU) depot, developing and implementing test procedures for the RFU LRUs and performing an annual LRU obsolescence study. 


Maintain and update GCCS Product tree
Support of  GCCS uplink sites (involves travel), 
Prepping and shipping LRUs to GCCS Uplink sites
Lab setup, maintenance, organization and documentation. 
Interface with facilities in conjunction with the GCCS lab and the GCCS antennas/associated equipment. 
Manage and track the calibration of all test equipment, including rental equipment as well as occasionally be required to make RF and digital cables.


Typically requires Bachelors of Science Electrical Engineering and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience. 
Strong background in Satellite Communications Systems
Experience working with Satellite Ground Equipment to include Modulators, Demodulators, up-converters, down converters, Klystron power amplifiers, antennas and transmission Lines
Working Knowledge of analog and RF test equipment – e.g. – spectrum analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscope, power meter, RF Network Analyzer
Experience in building/terminating and testing RF cables
Experience in building/terminating and testing data communications cables
Willingness to respond to operational issues on a 24/7/365 basis
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.  This includes working closely with site Subcontractor and Customer personnel
Occasional CONUS travel will be required (5 to 10 weeks per year)
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
Ability to work in a small team environment
Ability to climb Antenna structures and lift/install operational and test equipment
Proficient with Microsoft office Word, Excel, Power Point and VISIO
Familiarity with AutoCAD
Basic understanding of Network Protocols and test
Experience working in a 24/7 Operational environment
Excellent communication skills when working with Customer and Sub contractor personnel
Basic familiarity with data communication concepts
Basic knowledge of analog circuit design
