The Leidos Airborne Integration & Ground Processing Systems operation of the Advanced Solutions Group currently has a career opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer in support of the Airborne Reconnaissance Low Enhanced (ARL-E) program located in Manassas, VA. ARL-E is a multi-year program supporting the U.S. Army with upgrading and enhancing the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities of their airborne reconnaissance fleet. This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills to help in designing, upgrading and maintaining aircraft modifications on the U.S. Army’s Airborne Reconnaissance Low Enhanced mission DHC-8-300 fleet.
The qualified engineer will assist with all aspects of airframe design work related to aircraft modifications and antenna/sensor mounting provisions. The Engineer will participate in the life-cycle of the product design, from preliminary to critical design, analysis, prototyping, testing, integration, ground and flight testing and fielding. The responsibilities of the position will include generating drawings, both per guidance from the design lead and independently. The Engineer will be expected to support the assembly, testing and fielding of the product, and to work closely with the fabricators and assist with resolving production issues and questions; revise engineering drawings for ease of production, as necessary.

- B.S in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, with 0-2 years experience
- Experience using SolidWorks CAD software
- Strong manufacturing process knowledge
- Experience designing structural components, with composites, machined and sheet metal products
- Strong communication skills for collaboration
- Positive attitude, ability to multi-task and possess strong time management skills
- Knowledgeable on aircraft structures
- Familiar with Military and/or FAA airworthiness substantiation requirements
- Ability to obtain DoD security clearance TS/SCI
