Description:

Leidos currently has an excellent opportunity for a Lead or Sr. Seeker Closed Loop Tracking Seeker Engineer in our Shalimar (Eglin), FL office.

Successful candidate will perform RF seeker closed loop tracking design, implementation into a simulation environment, and analysis. The candidate will apply their knowledge of RF seeker closed loop tracking modeling and simulation to a) start from a complex existing Matlab/Simulink homing weapon simulation where documentation is limited; b) learn existing code to assess correctness of simulation functionality and results; c) improve the existing model; d) efficiently research new concepts from published literature in the gimbaled seeker dynamics and track loop control topic; and e) apply modern and/or new seeker track loop techniques to design an effective RF seeker tracking controller for advanced air-to-air missile concepts. Work with guidance and control and aerodynamics colleagues to complete a 6DoF model to compare and contrast seeker tracking model architectures and identify system level strengths and limitations

Qualifications:

Candidate must have a Master's in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 6+ years’ experience in closed loop seeker algorithm design, implementation, and testing in modeling and simulation.

Candidate should have the following skill set:

Complexity: Decompose challenging technical problems into logical and addressable steps, and develop solutions to complex missile seeker closed loop guidance using textbooks and research and integration of best practices. Employ ingenuity and creativity to develop advanced solutions to achieve customer performance objectives. A successful candidate must be able to work independently with limited guidance.

Communication: Must communicate with Leidos and subcontractor team aerodynamics, seeker, and guidance and control personnel, and interact daily with customer program leadership and team members. Must develop a clear understanding of customer goals and objectives and shape work activities to satisfy them. Must present both verbal and written status of complex technical ideas on a regular basis, regularly prepare professional documentation of research, and prepare manuscripts for publication at technical conferences and for professional journals.

Knowledge: Experience with target tracker and/or seeker closed loop pointing modeling and simulation; 6DoF missile simulation; and proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink are required. Familiarity with 6DoF simulations and their reference frames, and ability to manipulate coordinate systems, is required.

Clearance: Candidate must possess an active Secret clearance, or be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable period of time.
