Job Summary

Varec Inc. seeks a Tank Inspector who will be an expert on monthly compliance inspections for our Designated Underground Storage Tanks Operator (DUSTO) program in Southern California.   The successful candidate will need to make independent decisions, document non-compliance issues, and submit corrective action to the customers ensuring systems are returned to compliance quickly and efficiently in support of our Leak Detection contract.  We’re looking for a highly organized, methodical professional with the experience necessary to take our products to the next level in terms of safety, accuracy and maintain our excellent customer service rating.  A proven track record of experience is essential to complete this task and represents an excellent opportunity for the right professional.  

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform onsite standard inspections of underground fuel storage tanks, associated piping, and appurtenances as called for in the specified inspection standards with consistency and integrity.

• Demonstrate ability to make independent decisions and successfully manage conflicting priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Prepare site reports; interface with customer staff and company management on a daily basis.

• Provide onsite training support to newly assigned customer personnel, and conduct annual training in accordance with Federal and California regulator standards.

• Will require daily travel to southern California sites in support of our Environmental Leak Detection program.


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

• Candidate must have a high school diploma or better.  Education will not substitute for experience.

• 4+ years’ experience in the operations and/or maintenance of fuel storage and distribution, preferably in military environment. 

• 2+years’ experience inspecting tank systems utilizing industry standards

• Candidate must obtain International Code Council (ICC) certification as a California UST Operator within two months of hire date.  Candidate must maintain their certification as a condition of employment. 

• Be able to obtain a Government Common Access Card (CAC)

• Experience in creating technical documents using appropriate computer based software packages including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office suite, Adobe & Visio,

• Hold a valid driver’s licenses

• Ability to work with little to no supervision

• Analytical, logical thought process and meticulous attention to detail.

• Ability to translate skills and knowledge to others.
