Description:

The Capture Operations and Excellence organization within the Leidos Corporate Business Development & Strategy organization has an immediate need for a Capture Director. This position will be located in Rockville, MD or Reston, VA with associated meetings at corporate offices in Reston, VA, Chantilly, VA, Columbia, MD, and San Diego, CA. 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Capture Operations and Excellence organization is an enterprise shared service which provides best-in-class capture and proposal support for high priority, high dollar value new business and re-compete opportunities.  It supports capture and proposal efforts for all Leidos business areas and is responsible for developing and implementing BD policies, processes, and training for the company.  This is an outstanding opportunity for a high potential, high-energy professional seeking a role with broad exposure across the entire Leidos business. This position will report directly to the Capture Operations and Excellence SVP, Business Development and Strategy

The Capture Director leads large, complex, strategic and high dollar value capture efforts to secure new or re-compete contracts, or task order business. Has accountability to shape and win new business through a balanced focus on

customer engagement, customer value, the competitive environment, and the corporation's best interests. Develops capture strategy including business solution for pursuit of opportunities; identifies potential customers, competitive

assessments, teaming suppliers, and position-to-win; participates in bid and proposal activities. Has responsibility to lead and integrate the assigned cross-functional team and authority to direct team activities for the duration of the pursuit.

Partners with the Leidos Group and Group BD organization to ensure strategy and approach are in-line with business goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Leads capture efforts to secure new or re-compete large, complex, and strategic contracts.

•Has accountability to shape and win new business through a balanced focus on customer value, the competitive environment, and the corporation's best interests.

•Leads in developing capture strategy, competitive assessments, teaming, and position-to-win.

•Leads and integrates the assigned cross-functional team and has authority to direct team activities for the duration of the pursuit.

•Must build effective relationships within Leidos with Group, BD, and functional organizations. 

•Creates and presents executive presentations intended for capture gate approvals.

•Maintains ongoing interaction with business development and Line of Business (LoB). 

•Interacts with other senior capture directors to share lessons learned and improve the capture process, mentors junior capture managers, and participates in black hat reviews and strategy reviews for other large opportunities, where appropriate, to increase the probability of win.


Qualifications:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 12 or more years of professional experience.

•Business development familiarity within industry base.

•Demonstrated ability to capture business across a heterogeneous portfolio.

•A natural aptitude for strategic planning, financial analysis, capture management and teaming.

•Diplomatic, persuasive and articulate communication style to establish and maintain rapport with internal and external customers / partners.

•Aptitude for milestone-based capture process; to include opportunity identification, qualification, developing business cases, and capture management.

•Proactive, superior attention to detail, project management, and organizational skills.

•Business acumen, strong analytical and problem solving skills, reliability and sound judgment.

•Passion for personal accountability, achievement, learning and continual improvement.

•Ability to articulate complex issues into succinct, cohesive summaries and presentations.

•Strong leadership, team building, and communications skills.

•Ability to Travel on a as needed basis.

•Successful track record of significant successful business development.

•Technical background or operational experience.

PREFERRED QULAIFICATIONS:

•Master's degree preferred.

•Leadership skills to develop, organize and motivate teams to perform highly effectively and efficiently.

•Ability to gain internal support, operate independently with limited supervision and feedback, and establish a solid working relationship with the CO&E staff and the broader Leidos enterprise.
