Project Manager Sr.
The Project Manager guides the successful completion of major technology projects and programs, including satellite, network, communications, and software projects; the PM functions in a project leadership role, and erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.
The Project Manager represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects and interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations and government agencies.
A key function of the Project Manager is to lead the collaborative development of technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
The Project Manager leads or coordinates the following activities:
- project planning, resourcing, staffing, supply chain, and logistics
- subcontract management
- progress reporting
- people management, usually of personnel that are not direct reports
- oversees and coordinates work performed by multiple outside contractors
- participates in budget development and evaluating how project plan changes impact cost and schedule
The Project Manager is responsible for the following deliverables:
- ensures project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule, and cost
- monitors performance and recommends schedule changes, cost adjustments or resource additions
- provides timely and accurate information and status updates to project sponsors, end users and management
- may be responsible for feasibility studies and field trials management
This position will be leading highly complex technical projects and programs within a diverse technology portfolio.
The Project Manager is responsible for driving a successful solution by coordinating engineering and support personnel to solve technical and non-technical problems throughout the life of the project. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in leading and documenting robust designs and effective activity plans.
Deployment may be required in this position at discretion of management.
PMP Certification (can be required within 6 mos from the date of employment)
Prior experience managing complex technology projects, required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Typically requires a BA degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience.
PHYSICAL AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: Deployment may be required in this position at discretion of management. If required, the individual in the position must successfully complete the physical and dental examinations, as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action. Complies with applicable safety, environment, health, and waste management policies and procedure. US citizenship or permanent residence is required.
