Job Summary
Leidos has an entry level opening for a Space-based Infrared System (SBIRS) Electrical Engineer to support SMC/RSL system sustainment. Position is located in Colorado Springs; primary work location will be Peterson AFB. This work involves responding to requests for technical support and depot level maintenance repairs to a mobile ground terminal to include communications, HVAC and power generation. Travel to CONUS (Greeley Colorado) sites for meetings, planning and installation activities; 6-9 trips/yr is anticipated.

Primary Responsibilities

The position is part of a team responsible for designing modifications to a ground-based communications system and developing the engineering effort from the Preliminary Design Review phase through Critical Design Review, installation and check out, including formal post installation testing. In addition, this team will support updating technical data to include engineering drawings, technical orders and interface control documents.

The position will also support the Government team in selecting new or updating existing ground segment satellite communications equipment. Modernization efforts require the candidate to be able to assess equipment capabilities, interfaces and identify equipment capable of meeting mission requirements. Supporting the mobile mission will require ability to troubleshoot communications, HVAC and power generation issues and whenever necessary develop and provide recommendations to resolve performance issues.

Basic Qualifications 
-Requires active DoD Secret security clearance - candidates without clearance will not be considered
-Bachelor’s engineering degree in relevant subject area and a minimum of two years experience. Related experience gained while obtaining degree can substitute for work experience .( Labs , Projects ect...)
-Relevant skill areas include, but are not limited to: ability to work independently, develop engineering drawings, ability to identify technical data needs and estimate required resources to complete changes.
-The ability to communicate with engineering and configuration management staffs.

Preferred Qualifications
-Two years recent experience with space system sustainment.
