The Advanced Solutions Group of Leidos is seeking a talented Geospatial Analyst Intern, located in our Alexandria, VA office.


The intern will support the BuckEye Program, an aerial survey asset funded by the U.S. Army Geospatial Center. The Program conducts Wide Area Mapping at CONUS and OCONUS sites. The candidate will assist in the processing of GPS/IMU, LIDAR and EO sensor data from raw formats to final product and dissemination in support of the U.S. Army.


The candidate will analyze raw data from imagery and/or LIDAR sensors to ensure data was collected properly, process GPS trajectories, perform cleanup algorithms, register data, manage data, assist with the creation of orthomosaics, and conduct QA/QC to ensure that it is an accurate and reliable product. The candidate may assist in troubleshooting of potential hardware/software issues. The candidate will work in small cohesive teams and under the guidance of a mentor.



Candidates must be undergraduate (junior/senior) or graduate students enrolled in a degree program with a major in Geospatial Intelligence, Geographic Information Systems or related field. Must carry at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Must possess knowledge of digital cartography, image processing, computer technology, geographical information systems, geospatial production techniques, and digital data formats. The candidate should be a self-starter who works well with small teams as well as individually. Must have the ability of obtaining a DoD Security Clearance, U.S. Citizenship required.


Desired Skills:


Experience with GIS commercial off-the-shelf applications software, particularly ESRI ArcGIS, ArcView, ERDAS Imagine/LPS, SOCET SET, and QGIS are highly desirable. Knowledge of Python and an active DoD Secret clearance are also a plus.
