RF Seeker Engineer
Leidos currently has an excellent opportunity for a RF Seeker Engineer in our Shalimar (Eglin), FL office.
The successful candidate will be performing RF seeker target tracking law design, implementation into a simulation environment, and analysis. The candidate will apply their knowledge of RF seeker target tracking law modeling and simulation to:
a) Create gimballed seeker kinematic and dynamics laws for morphing and non-morphing missiles;
b) Develop a closed loop system for missile head articulation, including measurement data and actuator dynamic response, in a 6DoF model;
c) compare and contrast parasitic feedback effects.
d) Derive actuation requirements for improved tracking and intercept capability.
e) Compare and contrast seeker tracking model architectures with and without morphing;
f) create 6DoF simulations of target engagement scenarios, and identify system level strengths and limitations of morphing.
Candidate must have a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 8 + years’ experience in target tracking law algorithm design, implementation, and testing in modeling and simulation.
Candidate should have the following skill set:
Complexity: develop innovative solutions to complex missiles RF Seeker target tracking problems thru research and integration of best practices. Employ ingenuity and creativity to develop advanced solutions to achieve customer performance objectives.
Communication: Must communicate with Leidos aerodynamics, seeker, and guidance and control personnel, and interact daily with customer program leadership and team members. Must develop a clear understanding of customer goals and objectives and shape work activities to satisfy them. Must present both verbal and written status on a regular basis, and prepare manuscripts for publication at technical conferences and for professional journals.
Knowledge: Experience with target tracker modeling and simulation; 6DoF missile simulation; and proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink are required. Experience in seeker gimbal modeling of aerodynamically controlled missiles is required, including limits, dynamic response, error sources, signal processing effects, and scintillation.
Clearance: Candidate must possess an active Secret clearance, or be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable period of time.
